Three Hamlets

The town of Bedford is comprised of three hamlets, each with its own distinct character and unique and important history.

There’s Bedford Village, which boasts plenty of historic buildings dating from the 18th and 19th centuries. These include the 1787 Court House as well as several houses built after the British burned the village during the Revolution.

Katonah, named after Chief Katonah, is a dynamic and lively hamlet that features a bustling commercial area. It is more popularly known as home to the Caramoor Center for Music & the Arts as well as the Katonah Museum of Art.

Then there’s Bedford Hills, originally called Bedford Station, a hamlet that first prospered in the mid-nineteenth century and turned into the transportation and commercial hub for the area.

All of the hamlets have their own town park with swimming pools and tennis facilities, a library, locally owned shops, and a volunteer fire company.
